So I just saw Revolutionary Road last night.. and kate/leo's neighbors' son bears an uncanny resemblance to Ted Kaczynski (the UnaBomber) . I tried to find out if anyone else thought this on some messages boards but I guess Im the only one so far. I guess its just a strange coincidence.
The son in the movie has a PhD in Math and just got out of an insane asylum. His purpose is to be the non-conforming insane genius who goes back to the suburbs and breaks through all the polite suburban tension to reveal all the elephants in the corner, and enlighten society (Kate&Leo) with his refreshing observations of truth.
Ted Kaczynski graduated from Harvard and got a PhD. in Math ( from Michigan State) and was known as a strange loner-type genius, solving Theorems that had stumped his professors for years. Then he went underground and moved to a tiny log cabin in the wilderness of Montana to begin his homemade bomb postal service killing spree from 1978 to 1996. He is called the UNAbomber because of his focus on UNiversities and Airports, in attempt to "enlighten" society with his anti-technology campaign. To further his ideas he wrote an essay known as the infamous 'Unabomber Manifesto' which was published in the Washington post and actually gained a cult following.
