the COENS swept the awards season this year.
though you may not care, here is a breakdown of this awards season, where the films nominated were independent for the most part and well-deserved! (finally!) many won as well!

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.
12 best pictures
sag award for best ensemble cast
best cinematography at the baftas
coen brothers: 15 awards! for directing and adapted screenplay. including 3 oscars tonight!
javier bardem: every outstanding performance by an actor in a supporting role excluding the spirit awards.
total: 14 AWARDS! 19 critics awards. 33!

THERE WILL BE BLOOD didn't do too bad either..
5 awards for best director and cinematography. go pt anderson!
daniel day lewis:
BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE: EVERY AWARD SHOW. excluding the spirit awards.
that would make it..
total: 17 awards!

the independent spirit awards did not include no country and there will be blood in their nominees so it gave other people the chance to win something..

GOODIES from the spirit awards:

Best supporting female- cate blanchett in i'm not there. golden globes too.
the savages-best screenplay. tamara jenkins!

other awards that i have not mentioned were probably given to people associated with juno, atonement, la môme, or away from her......and others but mostly those four. (best actress, first screenplay..etc) those you would have to check yourself.
